Publishing articles on the FORO website

If you desire to publish your article for the Web Magazine yourself, contact Mary Jane Cuyler or Tonnie Huijzendveld (Arnoldus) for approval and for requiring the AUTHOR user status.
Otherwise it’s our pleasure to do it for you; in that case just send us the text and figures.

If you wish to publish the article yourself, do the following >>>

Log in to the Administration Panel with your e-mail address and password.

1. Click the Posts tab in the black left column menu
2. Click the Add New sub-tab.
3. Start filling in the blanks: enter your post title in the upper field, and enter your post content in the main post editing box below it.
4. Select a category in the right column menu
5. Click Publish in the right column menu

Title Box:
The title of your article. You can use any phrases, words or characters. You can use commas, apostrophes, quotes, hypens/dashes.

Body Box:
The blank box where you enter your writing, links, images… You can use either the Visual or the Text view to compose your posts.

The Preview button in the right column menu allows you to view the post before officially publishing it.

The Save Draft  button allows you to save your post as a draft / pending review rather than immediately publishing it. To return to your drafts later, visit Posts – Edit in the menu bar, then select your post from the list.

The general topic the post can be classified in categories. Readers can browse specific categories to see all posts in the category.

When you insert images in your text scroll down the right column menu and import them always full size. The content management adjusts images that are too large exactly to the content box’s width.

  • start from a Word *.docx file (not *.doc), single spaced, left aligned, without the figures
  • keep the figure captions apart in a list at the end
  • if there are footnotes, let it be endnotes with normal arabic numbering
  • load the figures in the media (new media); for the moment only *.jpg
  • in WordPress, create a new post (see above)
  • make title etc; insert your name and email at the beginning
  • assign categories: “Foro_article” anyhow, and select the language category
  • eventually assign tags (can be done later)
  • start editing the new post in Visual mode
  • copy your text there straight from the Word file (Ctrl C > Ctrl V)
  • eventually edit the text of your file in WordPress (be careful, it’s different from Word)
  • in no way touch the eventual  notes!
  • insert figures one by one, preferably in the centre of the page (this is for visibility on mobile devices), copying each time the caption from your inserted text
  • when finished, delete the caption list from your file
  • set a Featured Image (right column)

For posting the same version in another language:

  • make the new page, with new title and categories Foro_article and eventually italiano
  • copy the whole content from the existing page
  • then insert piece by piece the new text between the figures
  • at last change the captions one by one
  • set a new and different Featured image.

In this way you will maintain the whole layout, including figures and figure sizes.
